5 new libraries in Rukum East

By | News | No Comments

Dear EFL and all the board members of Promis Qualify

Greetings and Namaste from Nepal.

I am feeling very privileged to share the news that we have been able to provide 5 libraries in Rukum East, it lies in West Nepal which is a very remote area of Nepal. We were supposed to go to libraries in April but we were not able to because of the second wave of virus. We were thinking of going to libraries in September but there is news about 3rd wave and lockdown possibility, so we decided to deliver the books to schools . We checked the rain and roads in that area, we found everything was fine then we were ready to deliver the books.  It was not easy to travel in monsoon. There were several strong waterfalls to cross. The stones were falling while walking. It was an adventurous journey but finally we did it. We are glad to provide the books for schools. Mostly we did handover programs in the classroom because it was heavy raining; the schools were closed because of Covid-19.  The teacher called the nearest students for the library program.

I went to Putha Rural Municipality in Rukum in collaboration with the Karmaflights crew for the library inauguration for a week. It is one of the far destinations to go for the library project. We started our journey at 5 am on 7th August 2021. After 14 hours driving, we reached at Nayabazaar where we spent our first night after a long jeep drive. The vehicles reach until Nayabazaar. We have to walk from there to reach every school.  We woke up the next morning. After breakfast, the teachers and school staff came to bring the stuff. We distributed stuff belonging to their schools. Most schools used mules to bring the books and some schools carried themselves. There is no vehicle option after Nayabazar. People have to carry or use mules. Our journey started to walk from there. We walked about 6 hours to get to Shree Janajagriti Basic school, Mayang which was our first library to hand over to school. We could not do the second day because it was raining and it was a long day walk so we decided to do it the next morning. We went to Shree janajagriti Basic school the next morning. There were few students whose houses were nearby school and teachers. We did handover the books to school. Teachers and students were glad to receive the books because they do not have a library. The head teacher said we cannot get enough stuff or books because the schools are very far from the city in Rukum. After distribution, we went to another school, Shree Adharbhut Basic school, Gar which is 1.5 hours from Mayang. We gave books to teachers and the school management community. There were a good number of students who came for the program. Everybody was happy and thankful to Education for life and Promis Qualify.  After that we went shree Deaurali secondary school, Hukam. It took us 2.5 hours to get to school. It was raining while we were walking. The tea made us warm up at school. There were no students. We just handed over books to teachers. They will provide the picture books with students when the schools will open. They were grateful to get books. We stayed overnight in Hukam village. Next Morning, we started our journey at 7am. It was an adventurous day. It took 4 hours to reach the next school from Hukam. We had to cross a landslide path where there was a small line to walk, it was a dangerous trail, a small mistake to make fall into the river. I was thinking about how people and students go down that path. It was too dangerous. We reached the schools. There were teachers and school community people and very few students. We provided the books to them. They were very happy to receive the books.

The other group did handover books to shree Aadharbhut Basic school, Ranma. All of the 5 schools were very happy and thankful to Promis Qualify and Education for Life. All teachers and students really appreciate your wonderful help. These schools are situated in very far remote areas. The schools are still closed. There are no possible online classes. Teachers have strong feelings that the books will help students to get extra knowledge in this pandemic.

I would like to offer a huge thanks to Education for Life and Promis Qualify for providing libraries in this remote area. This is the most adventure journey I have ever done in my life but it is worth it to distribute the books there where even many of the students have not even seen a vehicle in their life. It was such an overwhelming moment to see the happy faces of unprivileged children. Thank you to the KarmaFlights crew which was not possible without their help in this monsoon.

Atlast, it is our great achievement to reach urban areas to rural areas like Rukum and hopefully many more to go in future.

Namaste  EFL and Promis Qualify

It is first library project of 2021.

It was wonderful trip of delivery books and stationeries items  to Shree Shiva Basic School, Modi Rural municipality-2, Parbat.

The teachers were delighted to receive the books for a library.  The school did not have budget for a library. The school wanted a library since long time but they could not manage the fund for it.  They had a good number of students in school before but slowly parents have taken away their children from school because of lack of facility. They hope the library will help to bring new students or parents will not take away their children from the school in future because they have a new library now and there are several knowledgeable books which will help to be enhanced students and teachers knowledge.

They are happy to be established a library by Education for life and Promis Qualify. The students are pleased to get new books and stationeries items. Teachers and students are really grateful for EFL and Promis Qualify work. The Head teacher and school family have sent their regards to EFL family. They are looking forwards to more help in future.  The school and whole community are thankful to EFL and Promis QualifyIMG_20210217_103247 IMG_20210216_133959 IMG_20210215_131706 IMG_20210216_133608 IMG_20210217_103316 IMG_20210217_130429 IMG_20210217_130525.

Namaste EFL & Promis Qualify

Merry Christmas & Happy New year-2021 from Nepal.

This is our last project of 2020. We are glad to finish our all library project in this year. We are happy to deliver book stuffs to those three schools which had been affected badly in mega earthquake 2015.

Those all three schools are located in north part of Nepal. It was two days journey to reach all schools. We have visited Shree Ved Vyas Basic School, Dhading first day. Teachers and all students were pleased to welcome us. They had received the stuffs with happily. Next day we visited two more schools, Shree Thanichandi Basic school and Shree Netrawati Basic school. These three schools had been damaged badly in mega earthquake 2015. The schools had lost books and other materials during the earthquake. They have new buildings now but they did not have libraries in schools. They were looking for libraries. They are really happy to have books for libraries from Education for Life. They  are  thankful to EFL and Promis Qualify.

When we have visited Shree Thanichandi Basic school. Most of students are Dalit (Low caste). They do not have proper clothes and shoes. We were wondering how they manage in winter. Families do not have enough money to provide them warm clothes for their children. The head teacher  of the school has approached for dress and warm stuffs for the kids. I hope we can do in further year.

All teacher and students wish EFL & Promis Qualify A Merry Christmas and Happy new  year-2021.  Thank you EFL and Promis Qualify  to providing wonderful books to all remote schools.

Namaste EFL & Promis Qualify

A warm greeting from Nepal.

After the long lockdown, we have succeeded to deliver books and stationeries for seven schools in three different districts. Those all three schools are located in west part of Nepal. It was four days journey to reach all schools. First day, We went Shree Janapriye Basic School and Shree Janak Secondary school, Kushma Municipality Parbat.  Teachers and students were pleased to receive the books for libraries. Schools teachers are really thankful to EFL & Promis Qualify to provide the wonderful books in this pandemic situation. After first delivering stuffs, we headed to another district, it took us seven hours driving to reach the place. We drove one more hour next day to reach Shree Bhagwati Basic school, Malika Rural municipality-6  Myagdi. They had only limit books for children. Teachers are very happy to get the books for library in this virus situation. As head teacher said people are afraid to travel or visiting places this time but EFL dares to visit with amazing stuffs to our school. They really appreciate our work. Then after We visited Shree Amarjyoti Secondary School and Shree Sidhhartha Secondary school, Malika rural municipality, Myagadi. Both schools did warm welcome to EFL team. They have good number of students but They did not have enough books for children. EFL has helped them to build a proper library. They really appreciated the stuffs. The president of school added in his speech that the books will be changed and educated not only student even whole community, that’s great thought. We are really looking forward to see that changes through our library project.

Next day, we had continue our journey to Baglung.  We got ready at 6 am. It was freezing cold in moring. We reached Shree Bishnu Basic school, Tamangkhola Rural Municipality Baglung.  The head teaher of school is so humble. He is very nice person. His entire schools team is very much grateful to EFL & Promis Qualify. They did not have any extra book in school. They have only course books. They were glad to receive all stuffs from EFL.  The school building is being constructed. They are teaching students under the tarpaulin and borrowing the rooms from rural municipality office for now. They have told us when they will get new building, they will have a library room and they will send us pictures.  They have sent millions thanks to EFL and Promis Project.

Our last school was Shree Shanti Secondary School. We got there very late but the teacher and student were waiting us. We did handover the stuffs to school. They were thinking to make a proper library but it was hard to them to managing the fund for books. They had a plan to collect a bit money from teacher group for books from last year but they were not able to do as the head teacher shared with us. The school is happy to find EFL. Whole community including school are grateful to EFL & Promis Qualify.

The schools have two shift classes in morning and afternoon and some schools have one day off and one day school because of the virus. The teaching hour is less for students. The schools have stress time because they have to finish their courses on time and the students have to catch it in short time because of the situation. I really hope that the books will help to all teachers and students to enhance their knowledge in this current situation.  All teachers, students and whole community are huge grateful to Education for life.

Greetings from mountains and land of Nepal

By | News | No Comments

I found a village called at Syangja District.  We have delivered books and stationery in three schools at that region. We have visited three schools named called shree Sharda Secondary and  Shree Shitala Basic school and Shree Janamat Basic School where we did  handover the all books and stationary to teachers and students.

These Schools did not have a library before. Students have only course books.  These three schools have a common problem to be sent students another school by their parents because of lack of resources in school. The Teachers and community think that if they get these kinds of help from different organization in future, students will not leave school.  The libraries will help to control the students to move somewhere else as well as the teachers and students will enjoy the books. They are very happy to receive the books.

Thank you !

Regards Mina

Distribution of reusable menstruation kit in Dhading!

By | News | No Comments

Namaste EFL & the Board members of Promis Project

A warm greeting from Nepal.

I am going to write you another beautiful journey of Dhading for distribution of reusable menstruation kit. Dhading is located within the bound of Gorkha which had been hit by mega earthquake of 2015. It took us nine hours to reach the village by jeep from kathmandu. We went to Shree Badri Bishal Secondary School which is situated GangaJamuna Rural Municipality-7, Budhathum, Dhading where 225 girls received the freedom kits (Sanitary pads, underwear, soap).

We had a small discussion program about menstruation. It was interesting to hear their stories about the period. They had known about period from their female friends, elder sister and mother at the beginning. They do not talk much about it because they feel shy as they grow in the environment where female don’t expose their problems. The good thing about this place is that the girls don’t need to go to shed in their period but girls are treated as untouchable on that time. They get confused, scared and sad in their first period. They are not allowed in kitchen, worship places and taps. They have certain area to go inside house. Although they sleep same house where their family are, they have cold night in winter.  Their Families provide them only certain clothes.

Some girls explained that they do not drink milk and curd during their period because cow is holy animal. They have to stay away from their homes several days when they get menstruate first time. Sometimes they missed their school during the period. They don’t prefer to go to school on that period because girls don’t get pads in school and they have to spend a long hour in school. There is not an open conversation about menstruation topic between students and teachers.

Although the circumstances are remained, the girls are really happy to get reusable pads. I hope their mentality will be changed through hygiene class and distribution program. They are thankful to all of you who made this possible. I personally very glad to be a part of this program to convey the message to community together we can bring the changes. Thank you Promis AS and Promis Qualify for all of your effort to make impossible is possible.

The Kits are produced by BENI Freedom Kit-Bags.

Thank you

Rapport fra Nepal; Promis project 2018

By | News | No Comments

Tusen hjertelig takk for deres bidrag. Dere gjør en enorm forskjell !
